About Gavin

My name is Gavin Smith and I am both the Founder and Chief Editor at PlayerBites. Let me take a moment to give you a glimpse into who I am.

I'm a 25 year old South African living in the UK. As a full-time software developer, I provide software solutions for customers in the broadcast industry specializing in audio/video technology and network communications. Technology plays a large part in my life. Even out of office hours, I'm either blogging on PlayerBites, posting on technology forums, or reading the top gadget blog.

If you're a regular reader at PlayerBites, you might be able to deduce some of the things that I enjoy or find interesting including listening to alternative music, contributing to open source software, blogging, reading the latest financial news, and researching about building online communities.

Why PlayerBites?

PlayerBites was formed by myself in mid-2007 as not only a means to fulfill my desire to write but to share my interest in portable MP4/MP3 players. After realizing the frustration in continually reading biased MP3 player reviews, PlayerBites was formed to provide the web with unbiased, independent reviews of the latest portable media players.
