The majority of you will remember the rather impressive Kenwood Media Keg that was released a couple of years ago; it was a fine gadget. At one point in time, Kenwood were managing to build a name for themselves. Unfortunately, with the announcement of the new Kenwood MG-F500 that could all be changing.
Times change. As such, one would expect Kenwood to keep up, but that isn’t happening. Their newest player even lacks video, so don’t even ask if the device is touchscreen-capable. On the other hand, if you’re looking for the basics, the MG-F500 could be up your alley.
The device features a 2-inch display in a choice of either 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB storage capacities. We come to expect a choice of 32GB these days, but don’t worry. The MG-F500 comes equipped with an expandable microSD/SDHC slot.
The variety of audio files supported is limited: MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV. All this lack of desired functionality does mean that the player is capable of pushing out audio for 50 hours on a single charge. Impressive!
The player will be available in a choice of either black, pink, or silver. Not to be confused with a brick, the overall design is bulky lacking much sought appeal.
No word on a release date, but we doubt consumers will be rushing to the shops for this one…
