Teclast T58

Teclast’s latest powerhouse, the Teclast T58, has been leaked on the web.  The big news about this device? Well, it’s all about the operating system. Adopting an OS usually found on phones, Teclast have opted for Google’s Android OS possibly making the T58 the first Android PMP.

Just short of being a fully-fledged cell phone, the T58 has integrated WiFi support including GPS. Yes, that means users will be able to browse the Web, send and receive e-mail, chat, watch online video, stream online songs, and play online flash games. Let’s not forget about the ability to handle documents.

Unlike most players coming out of East Asia, the T58 will make the most of its display with integrated touchscreen technology. Displaying at a resolution of 1280 * 720 pixels, the T58 supports H.264, RMVB, MPEG-4, AVS, and WMV9 video types; no word on supported audio file types.

Rockchip_RK2808

All this functionality is made possible because of Rockchip’s latest RK2808 chip featuring a dual-core ARM9 RISC processor. For those of you wishing to take a step in the wrong direction, we’re told that the RK2808 chip is compatible with Windows CE.

Now, we wouldn’t be all that surprised if we saw Teclast making a leap into the phone sector with the likes of Apple’s iPhone. Until then…
